A mixed team of seniors and juniors defeated Litton in a close game that went down to the last over. Litton batted first and totalled 174 with D Murphy top scoring on 43. Chew's bowlers were led by Jamie Dawson who recorded his club best with 4 for 19 off 5 overs. The opening attack was John Thursby-Pelham playing in his first senior game for the club and picking up 2 for 32 off 7 overs, and Matt Bedford 1 for 32 off his 7.
Alex Minter playing his second senior game also got a wicket with 1 for 17 off 2 overs.
174 in 40 overs is a reasonable target, but on a flat wicket and with one or two quality batsmen in the line up it was well within reach. Daff Griffiths opened up and went for it from the off smashing a quick fire 37 before being court behind. At the other end Alex Minter having his first bat for the senior side weighed in with 9 before being caught out at mid on.
Jamie Dawson came and went for 6 and then young Ed Harris, also playing his first senior game played a great knock for his 8 runs.
Ed Stowell was next and although it was his first knock of the season due to an ankle injury, Ed got on with it straight away and when joined by Lee Bryant looked to have the game sown up. However both went in quick succession with Ed on 44, and Lee on 39.
This left the tail slightly exposed and with overs running out it was down to Fraser Thomas and John Thursby-Pelham to secure the win with 34 balls to spare. Fraser finished on 6 not out and John on 3 not out.
