Match Report

1st XI v Winterbourne (A)

Saturday, 3rd June 2017
West of England Premier League
Bristol & North Somerset

The first team travelled North to darkest Winterborne in search of points and came back with a stuffing of Olympic proportions. True Winterborne are considered favourites for the title but a 172 run defeat is hard to take. Batting first the home side showed no mercy on a road and most of the Chew bowlers suffered. Shaun Hosier was Mr Economical as usual, but the others were going at 5's, 6's and 7's as the home side racked up an impressive 327 for 3 off their 50 overs. Chew went off like a rocket with Dash blasting the third ball of the innings for six, followed by a clutch of 4's. James Connell batted well too and just missed out on a 50 when he was dismissed for 49. After the openers went the wheels came off big time and we collapsed to 155 all out in less than 30 overs. Still time to watch the Champions League final I suppose... Another toughie next week as they are on the road again, this time at Old B's. Time to upset the form book and get some points in the bag!
