Match Report

1st XI v Ashbrittle, Stawley & Clayhanger (H)

Sunday, 22nd May 2005
National Village Knockout, 3rd Round

This third round match against Ashbrittle, Stawley and Clayhanger was abandoned after just 5 overs due to heavy rain.

Chew won the toss and put the visitors in. Dave and Garry Filer opened the bowling and Dave almost had a wicket in his second over when a catch was put down at cover point. In the next over however we did get one when a suicidal second run led to Garry Filer throwing to the Richard Gatton who took off the bails with the batman 2 yards out. Next over Dave got a second wicket when the batman could only spoon a simple chance up to Danny Gatton at square leg.

Then the rains came, and despite hanging around for an hour and half, and demolishing the tea, the rain did not let up. The game was abandoned and will be replayed on the 29th at the Ashbrittle, Stawley and Clayhanger ground. Provided we can find it that is.
