For two teams just 8 miles apart, it is hard to believe that this cup match is the first competitive match between the two sides for many years. Because they play in different leagues, the sides have only ever met before in a village knockout game, and that was almost 20 years ago. I cannot remember the result of that game, but there was no doubt about this one.
Chew Magna returning to top form after the disaster against Belvedere won in style and double quick time to boot. Blagdon were dismantled piece by piece by some quality seam bowling from Dave and Gary Filer and then the tail was polished off by Ben Frawley and Sam Kirk. 78 all out in 19.4 overs is just not a competitive score, and Chew, despite losing the prolific Mondair early on for just 1, won at a canter with Nick Beedell 25 not out and Neil Ogborne 8 not out hitting the winning run.
A 7 wicket win in just 10.4 overs is a great result against one of the teams Chew will be facing next year when they enter the Bristol and District Senior A Division.
