Chew Magna Seconds strolled to victory in this Senior Division clash at Chew Court. On a cold and blustery day with showers around Almondsbury batted first on a green top which gave the seamers the upper hand.
Despite 31 from the Almonsdbury opener, they never got to grips with the Chew bowling and wickets fell regularly. The surface was damp and the quicker bowlers found it difficult to keep their feet, so Skipper Pat Jones elected to give veteren Golden Arm Iain Locke the new ball form the tree end and he rewarded his skipper with 5 for 48 off 15 unchanged overs.
At the other end a combination of Mike Woolmore and Andy Banks accounted fo the rest of the visitors batting as 'Banksy' picked up 4 for 23 with his gentle seamers.
The Almondsbury attack was varied to say the least and Chew openers Gatton and White were pretty much untroubled as they knocked off the runs in just 20 overs to secure maximum points. White scored 61 no with 3 sixes and Gatton 45 no with 2 sixes.
Chew Magna's progress in this the top division has been good with 3 wins out of 3. There will be tougher challenges ahead, but the season already looks to be a long and difficult one for Almondsbury on this showing.
