Introducing Martin Sampson

No Martin Sampson Image

Nickname: Midgey

Playing Style: Right Hand Bat, Left Arm Slow, Natural Clown

Club Debut: 1984

Product of the Youth Team of the early eighties. Midgey was a character both on and off the field. Left arm spinner who had problems with the yips during his career, but often bowled the "snake ball" to deceive even quality batsmen.

Batted with a paddle from a canoe and hit a six to win a game off the last ball.

He`s still celebrating that one now.

Claims to fame: Ran Duncan Read out when he was on 49 during a Tour match against Winchester.

Bowled the Kilve Oz with one that bounced 4 times.

Retired in 1998.
